Troubleshooting

Why does AI recommend my competitor instead of me?

Short answer
Because the engine can find more, and more specific, independent evidence about them. Typically they hold review profiles you lack, appear in comparison articles you are absent from, or state concrete claims — pricing, audience fit, certifications — that give a model something quotable. Recommendation follows evidence, not product quality.

Diagnose it from the citations

Ask the question that names them and read every source cited. The pattern is usually obvious within a few queries: the same three or four domains keep appearing, and you are on none of them.

That citation list is your work list. Presence on the sources an engine already trusts for your category beats any amount of publishing on your own site.

Give the model a reason to switch

Models justify recommendations with specifics. If a competitor is described as 'best for enterprise compliance' and you are described as 'powerful and easy to use', they have a claim and you have adjectives.

Pick the segments you genuinely win, state that fit explicitly, and get it repeated in independent sources. Being the clear answer for a narrow question beats being a vague option for a broad one.
