Cookie Policy

The cookies and similar technologies Top Citation Signal uses — strictly necessary, analytics and advertising — what each one does, how long it lasts, and how to control them.

In plain English

We use a small number of necessary cookies for sign-in and payment, plus analytics and advertising cookies. Necessary cookies cannot be switched off; the rest you can control in your browser or via the platform opt-outs listed here.

This summary is for orientation only — the full text below is what governs.

Last updated: 28 July 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on https://topcitationsignal.com. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. "Similar technologies" includes local storage, pixels (tiny transparent images that report a page view) and SDKs. We use the word "cookies" for all of them below.

First-party cookies are set by topcitationsignal.com. Third-party cookies are set by another company whose service runs on our pages.

2. What we use, and why

2.1 Strictly necessary — always on

These make the site work. Without them you cannot sign in or pay, so they cannot be switched off.

Cookie Set by Purpose Lifetime
Session token topcitationsignal.com (first party) Keeps you signed in after Google sign-in; signed so it cannot be tampered with Session / up to 30 days
OAuth state topcitationsignal.com (first party) Protects the Google sign-in flow against cross-site request forgery Minutes
__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid Stripe Fraud prevention and completing your payment 1 year / 30 minutes

2.2 Analytics — how the site is used

These tell us which pages are used and where people get stuck, so we can improve the product. The data is aggregated for product analysis.

Cookie Set by Purpose Lifetime
ph_* PostHog Distinguishes visitors, records page views and product events Up to 1 year

2.3 Advertising and measurement

These let us measure whether an ad led to a purchase, and show relevant ads on other platforms.

Cookie Set by Purpose Lifetime
_fbp Meta Identifies a browser for ad delivery and conversion measurement 90 days
_fbc Meta Stores the ad click that brought you here, for attribution 90 days
Google Ads identifiers Google Conversion measurement and remarketing Up to 2 years

Server-side measurement. We also send conversion events directly from our servers to Meta's Conversions API. Where you have purchased, that transmission includes a SHA-256 hash of your email address, plus your IP address and user agent, so a purchase can be matched to an ad click. See section 1.5 of the Privacy Policy.

Cookie names and lifetimes are set by the third parties concerned and can change without notice to us. This table describes our configuration as of the date above.

3. Your choices

3.1 Consent. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent and are always set. Analytics and advertising cookies require consent in some jurisdictions, including the EEA and the UK; where that applies to you, you may withdraw consent or object at any time by writing to privacy@topcitationsignal.com, or by using the browser and platform controls below, and we will act on it. You can also ask us to delete analytics and advertising data already collected about you — see section 6 of the Privacy Policy.

3.2 Browser controls. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, and block third-party cookies specifically:

Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and checkout.

3.3 Platform opt-outs.

3.4 Global Privacy Control. Where required by law, we treat a GPC signal from your browser as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal data for targeted advertising.

3.5 Do Not Track. There is no industry-agreed response to DNT headers, so we do not act on them. Use the controls above instead.

4. Changes

We update this policy when the technologies we use change. The "last updated" date shows the current version.
