This Acceptable Use Policy forms part of our Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses https://topcitationsignal.com, whether or not they have an account.
1. General rule
Use the Services lawfully, for your own business purposes, and in a way that does not damage the Services, misrepresent our work, or harm anyone else.
2. Prohibited use of the site and data
You must not:
2.1 Scrape or bulk-extract. Use crawlers, scrapers, headless browsers, or any automated means to extract rankings, scores, brand profiles, comparisons or other content at scale, except as expressly permitted by our robots.txt for the purposes stated there. Ordinary indexing by search and AI crawlers we permit in robots.txt is welcome; systematic harvesting of our dataset is not.
2.2 Rebuild our database. Copy, compile, republish or redistribute a substantial part of the Rankings, or create a derived dataset, index, feed, API or product from them.
2.3 Circumvent limits. Evade rate limits, free-report quotas, paywalls, authentication or any technical restriction — including by creating multiple accounts, using disposable email addresses, or sharing credentials, in order to obtain free reports beyond your allocation.
2.4 Attack the Services. Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems without written permission; attempt unauthorised access to any account, server or data; introduce malware; or interfere with the Services through denial-of-service, excessive load, or any similar means.
2.5 Misuse the audit engine. Submit domains you have no legitimate interest in in order to profile competitors at scale, submit domains that are unlawful or that you know to be malicious, or use the Services to harass, defame or gather intelligence on a person.
2.6 Break the law. Use the Services in breach of any applicable law, sanctions regime, or third-party right.
3. Prohibited use of your report
Your licence is set out in section 9 of the Terms. Within that licence, you must not:
3.1 Resell, sublicense, rent, syndicate or otherwise commercially distribute your report or its contents.
3.2 Publish the report in full. Short quoted extracts with attribution to Top Citation Signal and a link to topcitationsignal.com are fine.
3.3 Use the report, its structure, prompts, scoring logic, findings or outputs to build, train, fine-tune, evaluate or benchmark a competing product, service or model.
3.4 Remove, obscure or alter our branding, attribution or notices, or present our analysis as your own work to a third party.
3.5 Present a report about someone else's domain as that company's own commissioned assessment.
Agencies and consultants: you may use a report in work you deliver to the client whose domain it covers, with attribution. You may not resell reports as a productised offering, or run reports as a service for third parties, without a written agreement with us. Ask us at reports@topcitationsignal.com — we would rather license it properly than argue later.
4. Rankings, badges and claims
If you reference our rankings or use a badge or certification mark we issue, you must not:
4.1 Misstate your score, grade, rank or category, or continue to display a badge after the underlying score has changed or the entitlement has ended.
4.2 Imply that we endorse, certify, recommend or approve your product, or that we are affiliated with you beyond what is factually true.
4.3 Imply that a score is issued, validated or endorsed by an AI platform. It is not — see the Rankings & Editorial Disclaimer.
4.4 Claim a paid audit, a claimed profile, or advertising with us influenced your rank. It does not, and saying so is false.
4.5 Alter a badge's design, or use our name or logo in a way likely to confuse.
Always state the category and the date of the measurement when you cite a rank.
5. Attempts to manipulate the score
Do not attempt to distort a Signal Score — yours or anyone else's — including by generating artificial citations or mentions, coordinating inauthentic content designed to influence AI outputs, spamming sources we measure, or otherwise gaming the methodology rather than earning the visibility.
We may exclude manipulated signals, adjust or withhold a score, annotate a profile, or remove a brand from the Rankings where we find manipulation.
6. Reporting a problem

7. Enforcement
Breach of this policy may lead to rate limiting, suspension or termination of your account, revocation of a badge licence, removal of content, blocking of access, referral to law enforcement, and legal action for damages and injunctive relief. Termination for breach does not entitle you to a refund.
We apply this policy proportionately, and will usually warn first where a breach looks inadvertent.
