Troubleshooting

Why doesn't ChatGPT know about my brand?

Short answer
Usually one of four reasons: your site blocks AI crawlers, your content only renders in JavaScript, nothing independent has been published about you, or your brand name is ambiguous enough that the model cannot resolve which company you are. The first two are technical and fixable in a day.

Check the technical causes first

Read your live robots.txt and look for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended. Check your CDN and firewall too — bot-protection presets block AI crawlers more often than robots.txt does.

Then fetch a key page without JavaScript. If the text you want quoted is not in the raw HTML, no crawler has ever seen it.

Then check the evidence problem

Search for your brand name excluding your own domain. If nothing substantial comes back, there is nothing for a model to corroborate against, and it will decline to make claims about you.

If your name collides with something common, disambiguation is the priority: consistent entity signals, a clear company page, and sameAs links to every profile you control.
