Getting cited
Does having a Wikipedia page help AI visibility?
What it actually does
A Wikipedia entry gives an engine a canonical description, founding date, category, and set of external identifiers. That removes ambiguity about who you are — which matters most for brands whose name collides with a common word or another company.
Wikidata is the underrated half. It is more permissive than Wikipedia, structured by design, and directly consumed by knowledge graphs.
The realistic path
Notability is established by independent, substantial coverage in reliable sources. Earn that coverage and an entry becomes possible; skip it and no amount of editing will hold.
In the meantime you can achieve much of the same disambiguation with consistent Organization schema, sameAs links to the profiles you do control, and identical descriptions across every platform.

Entity SEO is making sure search and AI systems understand your brand as a specific, identifiable thing rather than a string of characters. It matters because AI engines reconcile what they read against a knowledge graph — a brand they cannot resolve confidently is one they are reluctant to name.
Indirectly, yes. No major AI engine has confirmed that structured data is a ranking input, but schema makes a page's facts unambiguous — what it is, who published it, what it is about, and which entities it refers to. That resolves the reconciliation problem engines face, and unambiguous pages get misread less often.
Decide the canonical version of every core fact, publish it plainly on your own site in both text and structured data, then propagate it to every profile you control and request correction everywhere you do not. Inconsistency is penalised because a model that finds three answers will confidently state none of them.
