Does SEO still matter now that AI answers questions directly?

Short answer
Yes — arguably more, in a narrower way. Google's AI features run on the same core ranking and quality systems as search, and the engines that browse retrieve from search results. If you are not crawlable, indexable, and credible, you are not in the pool an AI answer is assembled from.

What carries over unchanged

Technical accessibility, site structure, topical depth, and demonstrable expertise all still determine whether you are eligible to be retrieved at all. None of that is obsolete.

What has changed is the pay-off curve. Incremental ranking gains matter less, and being the clearest answer to a specific question matters much more.

What genuinely is new

Measurement. Rankings and clicks no longer describe your visibility, because a user can see your brand named in an answer and never visit your site.

And the competitive unit. You are no longer competing page-against-page for a keyword, but cluster-against-cluster for a fan of sub-questions.

See where you actually stand

We ask AI engines the questions your buyers ask and show you whether you were named, who was named instead, and which sources they cited. Free.
