Measuring AI visibility

How often should I measure AI visibility?

Short answer
Monthly for most brands. AI answers fluctuate run to run, so measuring more often mostly captures noise, while measuring less often means a competitor can take a category for a quarter before you notice. Move to fortnightly during an active push, and after any significant site or positioning change.

Why monthly is the sweet spot

The inputs that move AI visibility — third-party coverage, reviews, content updates, competitor activity — change on a scale of weeks. A monthly cadence is frequent enough to catch a real shift and slow enough that the shift is bigger than the noise.

It also matches the pace at which you can act. Measuring weekly produces data faster than anyone can respond to it.

When to measure off-cycle

Re-measure after a rebrand, a pricing change, a major launch, a migration, or a change to robots.txt or rendering. All of these can move visibility sharply in either direction.

Also re-measure when a competitor makes a visible move. Share of voice is zero-sum within an answer — their gain is usually someone's loss.
