About Google Analytics

About Google Analytics

Google Analytics is the most widely deployed analytics platform in the world, giving businesses of every size a free way to measure web and app traffic, conversions, and audience behavior. The current GA4 version uses an event-based data model designed to unify web and app measurement and to feed directly into Google Ads and BigQuery.

Its dominance comes from ubiquity and integration: as the default choice bundled into the broader Google ecosystem, it is the platform most teams learn first and the one most tutorials, courses, and consultants are built around.

Why it ranks well for AI visibility

Google Analytics leads the analytics category on Entity Strength and Citation — it is one of the most documented software products in existence and is unmistakably recognized across every major AI engine. Its headroom is in Freshness and Expert Mentions, reflecting a mature product where new independent analysis, rather than raw recognition, drives further Signal Score gains.

The baseline every stack is measured against

It's free, it's everywhere, and it connects straight to Google Ads, so it's always in our stack. GA4 took real relearning after Universal Analytics, but once the events are set up it does the job.

Powerful once you commit to the model

The event-based model is genuinely better for cross-platform tracking, but expect to invest time. The BigQuery export is what unlocked it for our analysts.

Free but not effortless

For a solo founder it's a lot of platform. I get the core numbers I need, though sampling and the interface send me back to the docs more often than I'd like.
